Floored. Absolutely floored! That’s the only way I can describe my reactions to these EPIC pieces rendered by artist Joe Phillips. He takes some of Comic Books’ most iconic characters and pairs them with actors and actresses from Hollywood’s Golden Age. I grew up in a house that watched movies and television programs that highly featured these legendary performers, so this was an extra special treat for me; particularly Lucille Ball as The Scarlet Witch!
I wonder if I can get him to do one with James Dean as Gambit? Wouldn’t that be just an absolutely PERFECT pairing?!?
Funny stuff by Lunar Baboon!
Because there has GOT to be a parallel universe where this MUST exist, gifted illustrator and art director, Josh Lynch, brings to life some high-profile Marvel heroes and villains in the form of dogs! These canine comic book characters hit all the right notes and make you just want to bring them home to poop on your carpet, tear through your home and potentially either save or ruin the day.
If I had to levy any criticism on these fantastic pieces, it’s that it’s one big sausage-fest. Where’s Phoenix? Where’s Rogue? WHERE’S STORM?!?!?
WHY is this is not a thing? I would seriously play the S#!T out of this game! These guys seriously need to get a team of video game coders together, start a kickstarter and make this come to pass. So it is written (on my blog, damnit), so it shall be done!
I? Am? LIVING for this EPIC Avengers Cover spread in the pages of Entertainment Weekly!
This is SO beautifully done in crisp, eye-popping detail and I thoroughly appreciate the wink and nod to literally my FAVORITE comic book illustrator of all time: Jim Lee. For the uninitiated among us, this piece is clearly paying homage to the 90’s X-Men revamp, spearheaded by Mr. Lee, shortly after the events of the Muir Isle Saga. Such a bittersweet read, BTW. You should totally go pick it up.
Just when I think the marketers behind Avengers: Age of Ultron couldn’t think of anything else mind-blowing to shove down their loyal consumers’ collective throats, they go and do this. Bravo nameless genius marketing team. Bravo, indeed.
Fun Fact: Jim Lee’s piece is also paying homage to the original X-Men cover. SO meta!
My date with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes is less than 4 weeks away and I’m so excited that I just can’t hide it. In fact, there’s a good chance that I’m about to lose control but I think I like it.
Marvel has released the FINAL Avenger’s Trailer and I’m tickled far past pink. Pretty sure I’m in the Hot Pink area. You get individual action shots of each Avenger (including Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver), a visual on Avengers Tower along with their Quinjet AND you get to see Captain America’s shield beat the fuck up.
Steve really should get velcro or something on the inside of that thing so he’s not losing it all the damned time.
At any rate I got my tickets, got the calendar marked, and I got my geeky husband in tow. My body is ready. BRING IT!
