I can’t breath! Oh my Stars and Garters, I CAN’T breath! It’s here; the trailer for X-Men Apocalypse!
I won’t even bore you with text. Just watch and let the invariable goosebumps overwhelm you!
I CAN’T BREATH!!!
I feel like gamers in general, can all remember where they were when the trailer for the Final Fantasy 7 – HD Remake Trailer dropped. It was such a mind-blowing, accidentally-collective, experience that there seemed to a shift in the landscape of us all: the day before we saw it and the day after.
Unrelenting waves of rapturous nostalgia washed over me with such vigor that I actually had to stop the YouTube video for a second and just let it sink in. It was THAT powerful for me. I think this is easily the best example of the phrase: “UNF! Right in the feels”
I’m a coward… officially… I had to “turn off” Facebook for the last 2 weeks. It was just too difficult seeing memories from the previous year being brought to my attention again. Dec 4, 2014 had me enduring something I’ve never experienced before, the loss of someone I loved, my kitty, Loki. He was my first real pet and unlike most cats, he was the most affectionate little bundle of joy.
Loki was born April 1, 2014 and was a rescue. No one wanted him because he was a black cat and I bet his birth date didn’t help matters any. Maybe that was why he was especially affectionate? Because he had to try harder? I probably loved him more for that very reason. I know what it’s like to feel the need to “be better” and “push harder” than most, just to get even a sliver of the attention that more attractive people would get with very minimal effort. He was a kindred spirit for me.
Only a few days before my birthday, I was at work when my husband called me saying I needed to come home immediately. I’ll never forget the way his voice shook. I knew something terrible had happened. We came to find out that Loki had Feline Infectious Peritonitis or FIP, which is a fatal disease. So fatal in fact, that he was given less than a month to live but we would see his condition deteriorate rapidly. He wouldn’t die peacefully. Loki would suffer…. unless we did something about it.
I stayed home the next day just to watch over him and witness his symptoms escalate faster than we’d expected. We wouldn’t have a month with Loki. We’d have a day. My husband and I brought him back to the vet the very next morning and when she saw Loki, she realized what we were asking and that was to please end our son’s suffering.
It’s still difficult even thinking about it and this is the first time I’ve allowed myself to see pictures of Loki. I avoided Facebook because I wanted to face it all on my time and my terms. Can’t be sure it even helped because I’m biting back tears and struggling to finish writing this.
In fact, I’m done.
I miss you, Loki. I’m sorry. I’m so very sorry.
The official trailer for Zoolander 2 (or as Derek would call it: Two-Lander) has dropped and I have just as officially, lost my damned mind! Words cannot describe the sheer unbridled joy I am experiencing and I feel that only a Xanax would calm me the f*ck down.
Since words escape me, allow me to present 3 necessary images, starting with the eternally (albeit awkwardly) funny, Kristen Wiig and her… well.. WIG:
Followed by Will Ferrel as a musclebound Mugatu:
And the pièce de ré·sis·tance, Benedict Cumberbatch… with no eyebrows:
Somewhere, Whoopi Goldberg is screaming: “Bitch, STOLE my look!”
This movie canNOT get here fast enough!
Unless you’ve been living under a rock or simply choose to ignore the ofttimes harsh realities of our world, then you know about the recent terrorists attacks in Paris. CNN has been covering it left and right since the story (and the world’s heart) broke. Ever since that moment, all my social media feeds have erupted with discourse from all sides of the spectrum. I’ve even got friends passive-aggressively attacking each other on Facebook, vehemently protesting through somewhat hallow pronouncements, the things they find wrong with the world and people (including each other) in general.
The sad reality of all of this, is that that attack wasn’t even the only act of terrorism that recently occurred; just the only one which received the most media attention. For whatever reasons, the most vocal news authorities along with the collective consciousness born of social media, did not highlight the other recent attacks in Lebanon and Afghanistan, including the beheading of 7 individuals; one of which was a 9 year old girl.
I don’t get any of this; I truly don’t. I don’t understand why these acts would be carried out in the name of one’s religious convictions. Granted, I’m not a religious individual despite my strict Catholic upbringing, but if something feels this wrong, there isn’t too much gray area to hide behind. I may not recall much of my Sunday School teachings, but every week my pastor made a point to say one phrase:
“God is Love”
It’s simple and cheesy, but you know what? It works. Every person experiences this powerful phenomena in different ways, but the one common unspoken agreement is that Love brings people together, not drive them apart. If the heart of religion is a message of Love, then why do these things happen? Love is NOT divisive, yet somehow religion can be. I have many friends of different faiths and I respect them and their beliefs enough to not let it be a topic of conversation between us (in person, social media, or otherwise) because I value their presence in my life.
That’s what it should come down to; just value each other. Every individual person, thought, and heartbeat, make up this planet and it can be a beautiful place to live. I can’t help but feel that the sooner we all realize we are citizens of the entire world instead of just one nation, the faster we can close in on the elusive ideal known as Peace on Earth.
I? Have been OBSESSED with re-discovering my latent artistic ability and pushing myself to learn and grow like never before. I’ve scoured YouTube for instructional videos, bought so many comic books that my checking account is bare and have cried into multiple servings of Frozen Yogurt. Now that I’m here on the other side, I truly believe I’m much the better for it.
The idea for a group of genderbent Batman Villains stuck inside my head and wouldn’t let go, so I let it take sweep me away on the winds of change and the results have been fantastic. I’m planning on cranking out 5 total but I’ve already successfully produced a female joker. She was initially supposed to be the daughter of Joker and Harley Quinn, but I got tired of explaining that; so I’m just going with: “Hey look! Joker Boobs!”
Hot the heels of the psychotic prankster, I figured it would be a good idea to boobie-fy Scarecrow. In this case, I wanted to go a little wild and blend in Steampunk and Frankenstein’s Monster elements into her. Really, it was these 2 images that got my juices flowing so I went with it.
After hours and hours of work, Scarecrone is ALIVE!!! Granted, she’s a pretty far cry form the original, but I don’t care. She looks badass to me and I love her just the same.
For funsies, I also recorded the coloring process I went through with her and uploaded it to my YouTube channel. It’s strangely soothing and only lasts a minute and half. Take a look and enjoy! Oh yeah, and give it a thumbs up, pretty please? I like thumbs. Thumbs are fun.
