Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman

I kinda love this.  It’s very respectful to the original costume without being so over-the-top with the intense patriotic colors.  She also actually looks like an amazon warrior.

Officially excited!

Video Games : The Movie

Any and all Gamers need to stop whatever it is they’re doing right now and pick up a copy of Video Games: The Movie.  This is easily one of the best gaming documentaries I’ve ever watched.

I can’t even really describe the level of validation I felt after watching this movie.  The fact that they took it way, waaaay back and talked about the pre-cursor to Pong, which most credit as the one that started it all, is astounding to me.  Apparently, even before Pong, was the “PDP-1” which was created specifically to showcase the capabilities of interactive display screen tied to a computer.  Do you realize what this means?  Pong has a Mommy!  And that Mommy’s name?  Space Wars!

It’s truly a strange experience to watch the storytelling in this documentary.  In so many ways, the development in the video game industry follows my youth as I was introduced to the NES, Super NES, Genesis, Playstation, etc…  I was literally watching myself grow as I followed along the progression in the gaming industry.  Not gonna lie… I got a little misty-eyed.

Did I mention the cool cameos by celebrities like Wil Wheaton (of course), Donald Faison and Zach Braff?  Although in Zach’s case, he’s apparently the Exec Producer of this movie so he kinda doesn’t count…. but still!

So yeah, go get it and go watch it!  You’ll thank me for it later!

Entertainment Weekly’s Avengers 2 Cover

I think I just squealed a little bit.

I mean how AWESOME is this cover?!?  It does so many things for me.

Do yourself a favor and follow THIS LINK to check out some new set pictures for the upcoming sequel to the Avenger’s First Epic Adventure.

Captain America’s Successor

Hot on the heels of announcing Thor’s sex change, Marvel reveals that another iconic character will get a “re-mix” as well.  Ladies, Gentlemen, Bois & Gurls, the mantle of Captain America will  now be taken up by former Falcon, Sam Wilson.

THIS?  I can get behind.  From my understanding (as someone who doesn’t read the Avenger’s books), Steve Rogers suffered being aged dramatically in their most recent battle and can no longer hold the mantle of Captain America.  His long time bestie, Sam Wilson (aka The Falcon) steps up to the plate and dons the Red, White & Blue.  The really kind of cool thing about all this is that Sam incorporates his “Falcon Wings” into the classic suit.  I don’t know about you, but if I were a bad guy and I had a flying Cap throw that indestructible shield from way up high?  I’d be shitting my pants real good.  Death from Above, Party of One?

Steve Rogers is sticking around though to play as mentor to Sam Wilson in his new role and advise from the safety of Avenger’s Headquarters wearing a snuggie and eating soft foods.  We’re talking some Bruce Wayne/Terry McGinnis action here.  Batman Beyond, anyone?

I might just have to pick up some of these comics and follow this one as it develops.  I just LIVE for these kind of “mentoring the noobie” storylines.

Goddess of Thunder?

And now for something completely different…

I feel like I should probably preface this by saying I don’t actually read Thor.  For that matter, I’m not really a big fan of The Avengers and really only took notice of them after the movies started coming out (much  like the rest of the world).  But this?  This is bananas!

Marvel is going to “re-boot” Thor in a manner of speaking.  We’re not talking a random “The New 52” maneuver.  This is THE Thor of the main Marvel Universe and he is now someone a woman.  I’m not entirely sure how this came to be and since I’m not actually a fan of the books, I don’t know that I can respectfully weigh in on this, but DAAAAAAAAYUM this is huge.

I mean, if they really wanted a Goddess of Thunder versus a God, can’t they just ask Storm to don the feather headed tiara again?  Remember when she swung that Mjolnir-wannabe hammer, courtesy of Loki?  You don’t?  Really?  Oh you poor deprived child.  Feast your eyes:

Ain’t she purty?  Anyway…

All I can say is I hope the fans of Thor are content with this drastic change.  As for me, all I can say is if they fire Chris Hemsworth for this, I will cut a b!tch.

Sorted Mario Bros

I have been meaning to write up a blog entry about what is literally my FAVORITE YouTube channel and I’m saddened by the mere fact that it took roughly 3 weeks of my blog’s existence before I did.  Talk about procrastination!

Interestingly enough, the day I decide to finally put up a Foodie Post (being that I am a self-described renegade-foodie) the boys from Sorted Food went and incorporated the Super Mario Bros into one of their recipes?

As delicious as I’m sure that was, I don’t think I’l be trying it any time soon as it just looks like one big carb-bomb.  I felt my insides puff up just watching them take a bite out of that… that… whatever THAT was.

I really enjoy every last recipe that Sorted pumps out because the guys create these amazing and mouth-watering dishes that I would expect to be churned out in restaurants, and present it to you in the most simple-to-follow and basic format possible.  Anyone can be an arguably good chef with the tips and tricks they bring to you.  For someone like me who already fantasizes about one day winning MasterChef, it’s like having your cake and eating it too.. which BTW, they make great cake recipes too…. in a freaking MUG of all things!

Mike, Jamie, Ben & Barry (from left to right, up top) make the interwebs a little brighter, every time they upload a new video.  I highly recommended checking them out and subscribing to all their social-media venues.  They’re also pretty easy on the eyes, but that’s another blog entry that needs to happen.

Before I go off on some random tangent about handsome chefs, I’m going to just finish off with sharing my FAVORITE dish I’ve ever learned from them.  I cook this (or a version of it) at least once a week because it’s such a time saver for someone with my schedule: Chicken Fricassee…
